Start with questions on the topics you've covered. As you learn more of the specification, build up to longer sections and full papers. If your school uses a different teaching order, ask which questions are appropriate for your next assessment.
AS questions can help practise overlapping content, but they do not cover everything assessed at A Level. Compare the specifications and use A Level questions too, especially for content and question demands beyond AS.
Not necessarily. AS is a qualification with its own assessment requirements, while a school's first-year A Level assessment may cover a different selection of content. Check the specification and your teacher's guidance instead of assuming the papers are interchangeable.
You can practise the questions on topics you've studied and leave the others for later. Label any skipped questions on untaught topics so you don't mistake them for revision weaknesses. Use a full paper to assess readiness once you've covered enough of its content.
Plan around the topics your mock will assess and the time you have to review mistakes. A smaller set of carefully reviewed attempts can be more useful than rushing through papers. Include unseen questions to check whether your understanding transfers.
Use individual questions only when their content and demands are appropriate for what you've studied. An entire A Level paper may require material outside AS. Your teacher can help identify suitable questions from the same course.
Match the awarding body, subject, qualification title and specification code. Check the paper or component and any options before practising. Similar subject names do not necessarily mean the same syllabus or exam structure.
One practice score cannot predict your final result. Review which topics were tested, what you've been taught and why marks were lost. Use those findings to choose your next revision steps and compare progress across unfamiliar questions.
