Picture a beautiful rose garden in summer. Now imagine those green leaves covered in dark, ugly spots that spread and eventually kill the leaves. That's rose black spot - one of the most common diseases affecting roses worldwide.
A fungal disease where purple or black spots develop on leaves, which often turn yellow and drop early. It affects the growth of the plant as photosynthesis is reduced.
This isn't just about making roses look ugly. When leaves drop early, the plant loses its food-making factories. Less photosynthesis means less glucose production, which weakens the entire plant and reduces flower production.
The disease starts small but becomes unmistakable. You'll first notice circular purple or black spots appearing on the upper surface of leaves. These spots have irregular edges and can be anywhere from 2-12mm across.
